R.N.L.I Eyemouth

2016

In 2016 I visited the Royal National Lifeboat Institute station in Eyemouth, Scotland in hopes of doing a book with the RNLI. I have always wanted to be in the RNLI, since seeing a boat launched into the sea from a peer when I was about 5.

Swan Thumb

2014

Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the joints. The main symptoms are joint pain and swelling. It’s the second most common form of arthritis in the UK.

My Gran Janet, 78, had been affected by severe Rheumatoid Arthritis since the age of 23.

Years ago while at a clinic, a doctor had a group of medical students with him and asked to examine her. They gathered around her, fascinated as her case is rare due to its severity. The doctor described her thumb as a 'Swan Thumb' because of the way it looked. This name has stuck with her ever since.

The Black Monks

2016

Monastic life, like religion in general, is declining in the UK.

This is an exploration of what it is to devote a lifetime to isolation. This project, currently in infancy, will be an exhibition and short book of 4 journeys; an elder monk, a novice, an elder nun and a novice. Images will be displayed beside journal entries or poems written by the people involved, during a walk along St. Cuthbert’s Way - an ancient pilgrimage still taken today.
